I know a two young folk who have just moved from a neat little starter home to an ex stately home estate school house. It was converted to living quarters way back and various other work has been carried out on it in recent years. The one thing about buying something that is quite old, is no fear of Asbestos lurking in the walls or roof. The sheer complication and expense of having specially dedicated trained asbestos handling really takes a whole new consideration. The property I’m referring to still has the original parquet floor in what was the school hall / main classroom. They also have the school bell in their hallway, complete with frayed rope. This little detail is lovely to keep a link with the property, and one of the pair has a great uncle who actually attended the school when he was between 5 and 11 years old.
