Absolutely Fab Heaven Sent Rehousing Scheme

We’ve had masses of new building work carried out near me.  Being in an area that had lots of trunk roads, there has been much ribbon development occuring – every single space along these roads seems to have been taken up for one kind of housing or another.  This reminds me now of the days after second world war when the homeless needed urgent help and whole patches of land were covered in dear little pre-fab houses.   These perfect little units were welcome in every community – a chance for a bombed out family to have a really good start all over again.  I don’t know why but they did always look to me as though they were made of asbestos – the insulation properties were great and completely fire proof!  Those super compact kitchens with integral larder and washing boiler and cooker.  So much better than many of the houses that escaped the bombing!
